Joe joined the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus in May, 1991 and sang as a member of the bass section. As mentioned in the obituary, he was a long time member of the Lollipop Guild small ensemble of the Chorus. The Chorus refers to these members who are no longer able to sing with the group as members of the Fifth Section.
