I was saddened to hear about the death of my friend, and ex-neighbor. I met Marlow back in 1979 when he was bartending at Club Dori. We bonded because of our Cajun roots. For a few years, Dori was my hangout, and in 1983, I was blessed with renting the studio above Marlow's studio on Stanyan, and lived there until my move back to Pasadena in 2000. Who can forget his impish smile, dry humor, love of scotch, and his Chartreuse Charger. He was one of ther last of a breed of bartenders whose service well exceeded what was expected. At the tender age of 21, when I would walk through the door at Dori's, Marlow would spot me, then holding the serviette above his head, he had me follow it to where he wanted me to sit. This kept me from making the mistake of sitting next to a jerk. He worked for Dori's, Bradley's Corner, and Trax before settling in at Uncle Bert's. I hope someone took you back to the French Quarter for a good send off. On a not too long ago visit, I never did get any answers or details, because, the the person whom I was told handled your estate had to act like a typical Lesbian; curt, borderline rude, and barely spoke to me! R.I.P my good friend. I will never for get you! -Andre Vaughn
