David, I asked for spiritual help when I developed hiv encephalopathy and began to experience alarming short term memory loss. You responded to my cry for help and your caring support was of great help in my acceptance of this condition. It also marked the beginning of a friendship that was both healing and promoted personal growth. I loved your outrageousness and subversive sense of humor, and came to appreciate your enormous creativity and artistry. I just watched a wonderful documentary on the BBC and my thoughts returned to San Francisco and working with you in the Theatre of Man. I remember sharing an apartment on Haight Street with you and other members of the company. I had always hpoed we might meet again,
