Richard wrote a series of columns in the mid 1980s in the Bay Area Reporter called Sensible Sex. He married sense with eroticism -- and did so very well -- for gay men at risk in mid-1980s San Francisco.
Michael T. Roper memorialized Richard Locke in his book, Memories of My Gay Brothers (2000).
I interviewed Richard Locke in 1987, and tried to follow him for a while. But he was on his way to the desert, and no way could I follow him! I eventually connected with his brother, Robert Locke, who has written about Richard, and he took me to Richards grave.
