John was a member of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus from April, 1979 until August, 1984 for a total of 19 concert seasons. As noted in the obituary, he also participated in the historic 1981 National Tour of nine cities in the United States. The tour is credited with being the creative force behind the formation of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses which as of 2010 has more than 170 member choruses with over 7,000 singers worldwide. He last sang as a member of the Baritone section. The Chorus refers to these members who are no longer able to sing with the group as members of the "Fifth Section." They are listed Chorus programs and on the group's website: https://www.sfgmc.org/about_fifth.shtml

John and I were first loves 1967/68 . We're at ASU together. Remodeled a 30's Phoenix bungalow with our two cats on the lawn, he lived trains , I can still see him in his railroad cap. His train set ran through out the house. He was pure and honest and loving with exceptional talents. We co edited the ASUvreative magazine 'The Catalyst'. I will always hold him close. Oh how I loved that boy.
