Dennis was a funny, charming, sexy Portuguese man with the most incredibly thick and gorgeous silver hair. We met at a guesthouse on the Russian River in Guerneville in 1988 and he was one of my best friends until he died in 1992, on his birthday. He was my first close friend who died of AIDS. I still remember his laugh and the twinkle in his eye. I miss you, Dennis, and I wish you had been able to meet my daughters. They would have loved you as I did.
