Watkins, Mark Derik

Mark taught me how to DJ and trained me on how beats and measures and keys made mixing vinyl into a smooth and creative art form. He was one of the first people I met when I moved to SF in 1987. First sighting: smoking a joint outside of the Castro Station on Castro Street. I miss you, Mark, and I'll never forget the many gifts you gave to me. Love always, JIM

I never met Mark Watkins but I knew him from his high energy mixtapes as DJ Mark Watkins. His ability to deftly move from one song to another, one mood to another is heard loud and clear in his DJ'ing. IMO few can meet this standard. We lost so many incredibly talented people, Mark was among them.
