I never met Bill Woodhams, but I knew his partner, Kinmont Kin Hoitsma. Kin taught Humanities at Chabot College in Hayward, CA. That is where, then a student, came into Kin's life. I did the same when I started attending Chabot in 1988. Kin had three photos of Bill in his office. When I inquired about the good-looking young man, Kin replied, That's my partner, Bill. That, as I recall, is how my favorite teacher came out to me. Today, March 21, 2014, I visited the aboretum in Golden Gate Park. I had been there before to search for the bench Kin had placed there in Bill's honor. I didn't find it on that first visit, but I found it today! And so, I finally made contact with Bill. I also had the chance to say Goodbye again to Kin. Kinmoint Hoitsma passed away on September 30, 2013 in Oakland, CA. He was the finest man I've ever known; extremely well-read, well-traveled, a champion level fencer (epee)at Princeton and the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. In the early 1960's, Kin was the partner of Sir Cecil Beaton. Cecil was the official photographer to the UK's royal family for fifty years, and the costume and set designer for My Fair Lady. There was a thirty year age difference between Kin and Cecil, just as there was between Kin and Bill. If you knew Bill Woodhams or Kinmont Hoitsma, please contact me at: robertstrom@sbcglobal.net I am writing Kin's biography, and any information would be greatly appreciated. Robert Strom
