I didn't know Tandy personally but I bet had we met we would have become instance friends. He reminds me so much of my brother Mark, who passed in 1996, also of AIDS. Like Tandy my brother went to SF in 1977. Like Tandy, an artist, creative, talented and very soulful. I came across a little booklet that Tandy designed, 7. and wanted to get in touch with him. I'm so sorry for the loss of Tandy, my brother, and so so many. In love and light, Alice Watford

Tandy Belew gave me my first job in San Francisco, when I moved there in 1984 - a straight guy from North Carolina - so I had quite the introduction to the SF gay community. James Fulp, George De Woody, Larry Hermesen, and many others were frequent visitors at Tandy Belew Design. Tandy designed the original Zuni Cafe logo, the original logo for Cafe Deluxe on Haight Street, and did a lot of work for Levi's. Tandy was a talented designer and very sweet and generous. I worked for him for nearly 4 years and he never once uttered an unkind word. He was very involved in the Mens Gay Marching Band and he taught me the importance of giving back to the community - which he did regularly through pro bono design. He is missed by many.
