Allison, Thomas V

It will be thirty years next month since Tom left this world, & not a day goes by that I don’t miss him, or be reminded of him, or wish I could call him & share something with him & just hear his voice again. I wish I could tell him that when my transgender daughter was choosing her new name, she honored him by choosing Allison as her middle name. I wish he could see all the positive changes in this country for LGBTQ people, and that so many people are now living full and productive lives with HIV/AIDS. I hope he knows somehow how much his sister & I, & his other Virginia friends still celebrate & remember his life, & wish he was still with us to grow old together. Tom was brilliant, phenomenal, handsome, and -most of all- loving and very dearly loved.
