Uncle Ronnie
I've been wishing for a special place to leave a message for you in your memory! This is the perfect opportunity.
Such a true heartbreak I didn't get to know you more when growing up! I know we shared some time together because I have a couple pictures of us, but I don't remember those times. I didn't have the awareness to miss you back then. But as a grown woman in my 40s, I miss you!
What would it would be like to be able to give you a call. I wish I could hear your voice and your thoughts on anything and everything. A couple of years ago, I started a quest to learn more about you. I did some digging and reaching out and connected with a small handful of your family and friends. I asked them to tell me about their memories of you. One of your college friends told me "he would be so pleased to know that you want to know him." That makes me smile 😊
I talked to QUITE the variety of people who knew you. You are still so loved! Here is a sampling of the responses.
"really handsome"
"everybody fell in love with Ron. You felt like a million dollars around him. He was gentle, kind, so handsome, charismatic"
"every head would turn, man and woman, but Ron wasn’t arrogant"
"Ron was really funny, kind and thoughtful, modest and unassuming"
"Beautiful soul"
"The thing I want you to know about Ron is that he was BEAUTIFUL! I would even say 'adorable'!"
"Beautiful soft brown eyes that had a kind of sadness in them"
"handsome and a very stylish dresser"
"He was very sociable and a great conversationalist"
"He was funny, so creative...he could make me laugh like no one else"
"Ron was pretty special to me"
"Handsome funny sweet and kind"
"Wonderful unique creativity"
"Ron and I were good friends. He was very creative. I think he could play the piano by ear. He made everyone feel loved and accepted. He was very funny! He was very handsome"
"Art music and poetry"
These are some of the most wonderful things you can say about a human. You have been gone for over 30 years, but you left a lasting impact on the people in your life. And who knows how many more people are out there still thinking of you.
Mom said you were so excited to be an uncle and you loved me and my brothers. She told me how excited you were when I was born. Thank you for sending me the birthday cards that I now cherish. Thank you for always adding I love you to those cards. I feel loved reading them.
The world is now deprived of the goodness and joy you brought to it, but you are not forgotten. I am sorry the world wasn't better to you. Humanity is at its worst to deny acceptance and love to the best among us. I can't make sense of the cruelty.
No matter who was telling it, your story always included seeking connection with God and making sense of your faith. There is a depth to you that is rare. I will see you again one day 💙 You and mom can tell me all your shared and treasured memories of childhood. What a comfort to anticipate the future reunion and happy times we will share. I love you and miss you, Uncle Ronnie!
