Ash, George

Just arrived in San Francisco and we met, that was more than 40 years ago. Years later was telling someone about meeting you and there you were at the Grub Steak when we walked in. Very handsome with a warm smile.

I've thought of you often over the years, George. You inspired me to come to San Francisco in 1981 and I remember when you picked me up from the airport we drove straight to the Flower Mart to begin buying merchandise for ho ho ho, the Christmas store we opened on Market Street. Those several months that we spent together were some of the most interesting in my life. You were generous in spirit and showed me San Francisco from a beautiful point of view. Just a handsome, warm, and funny man. I've kept some wonderful handmade cards you sent to me as well as some pictures that we took that Christmas from your home on Alpine Terrace. I was so sad when I heard that the world had lost you.
