What a beautiful and touching tribute to Bruce. He clearly enjoyed life and made a big impact on those around him. Those nutmeg donuts must have been delicious. RIP Bruce
Bruce was my first friend in San Francisco. I was the person he met on the bus as mentioned in the obituary. I was carrying a 5x8' rug home to my apartment which was nextdoor to his and we instantly became fast friends. What a time we had. We laughed, we cried, we danced. He took me to Trocadero and to the Marin Headlands where we would eat pizza on a bench overlooking the city we both loved so much. Bruce was smart , witty and a great cook. We had so many adventures together but one thing he said always stuck in my head. He would say This is too much fun. This can never last. And he was right. The community was devastated by the AIDS epidemic and then he, too, succumbed and was gone. There will never be another Auntie Bruce. I loved him so much.
