I never knew you but this month makes 30 years ago that your life was wiped out by this dreadful disease,at the time of your passing. The case's of infections hadn't reached the high proportions that exist today. May your memory be one that is so bitter sweet and not to heart-breaking for your loved one's to recall. RIP
I knew you had passed David, I just didn't know when. Now I find it so many years later. I have thought of you often over the years and will till my time ends. I will always love the man you were to me. thanks David for advise you gave me quite possibly why I am still alive and negative today.
David Clerici was one of my dearest friends when I lived in the Castro. We met at the nude beach at Russian River when my wet dog plowed through his beach towels. We became fast friends and then even worked together at High Gear on 18th & Castro for a stint. He would often just show up at my office on Union Square at a swanky hotel in drag for no reason, which was absolutely hilarious as the management at the tome was mortified. He had a huge crush on Mark Hamill, so we went to see the Empire Strikes Back at least three times together at the Castro Theater. He sang in the gay men’s chorus. He played clarinet in the game ends in the gay pride marching band, and he also played in a swing band on Polk Street. I still have pictures of him, that I even keep in my phone. He was one of the most vibrant and fearless people I’ve ever known. After all of these years I still dearly miss him.
