Tom Burtch San Francisco, CA 28 Jun 2010
Larry was a member of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus from January, 1980 until April, 1986 for a total of 17 concert seasons. He also participated in the historic 1981 National Tour of nine cities in the United States. The tour is credited with being the creative force behind the formation of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses which as of 2010 has more than 170 member choruses with over 7,000 singers worldwide. He last sang as a member of the First Tenor section. The Chorus refers to these members who are no longer able to sing with the group as members of the "Fifth Section." They are listed Chorus programs and on the group's website: https://www.sfgmc.org/about_fifth.shtml

I am very saddened to write that you passed away on my birthday and a birthday is a day of celebration. I never knew you but I feel compelled to address your passing that I sat with gay friends of mine who have since passed on. Back in 1989 I was still a young girl just barely legal to vote and pay tax's but not old enough to enter bars to drink. But I did and I enjoyed the many gay and lesbian clubs that allowed me access. I was aware of AIDS due to Rock Hudson and other prominent name's in the media. I hope that your lover, friends and family still think of you and know that your death wasn't in vain. My only wish if I could turn back time is that you many other's who died from AIDS. Could have lived longer to see the creation of the life saving pills developed in 1995-1999. RIP
