Jay Platt played an influence in my life in San Francisco. He introduced me to his many friends and got me to play in the Community Softball League. First with the Round Up,then Oil Can Harry's,and the Ambush teams. He got me a job as publicist for the End Up and Round Up bars. His house was always a place of great cooking, and on all Holidays and Jewish Holidays he made people feel at home. We both came from Chicago, went to the same high school but at different times, and we spent some time in the army. I helped him create new products and catalogs. He introduced me to his sister Tona and later to his parents. Although we were quite different, we always had lots of fun together over many years. His New Years Party's always had great crowds. When he came down with AIDS, he fought a courageous battle. Even years after his death, it easy to recall the good times we had. He was a good friend.
