It's been 25 years tomorrow since you died, Jeff. I can't believe I'm still alive. You were a good friend. And although we went to different law schools in San Francisco, our ordeal was very similar and at the same time. I hope you know that after you died and were cremated, we spread your ashes at the top of the Marin headlands north and across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. Beyond the WWII gun turrets. Each of your many friends there got a baggy with some of your ashes. I threw the ashes of yours that I had towards the ocean. Right then, a gust of wind blew those ashed right back onto me, mostly in my face and some in my mouth. I'm convinced that was your work. A sense of humor that continued after death. At least that's my fantasy. I think about you, though less over time. But I'm sure I'll see you again soon enough. |
